Brexit for investors: Is it really doom and gloom?

Brexit for those who are unaware is the United Kingdom withdrawal from the European Union, following a referendum on 23rd June 2016 where majority of the public agreed to leave the EU.

A lot of uncertainty around Brexit has been created across all industries following the implications on the value of the pound as a whole.

For Investors this also generates a lot of uncertainty as Express.co.uk states that for many, Brexit 'means holding off to see what will happen before buying or selling a property'.

One&Only believe that for investors, this actually could be seen as an opportunity rather a disadvantage. Brexit has discouraged people from purchasing properties that it has created a potential venue for investors to potentially find good deals.

No one knows exactly what's going to happen, as the media like to exaggerate on the notion that the value for your property could drop. However, it is important to take into consideration that there is a shortage of housing in the United Kingdom.

The Telegraph reveals that there is just '825 homes for every 1,000 families' across the UK. Having said this, it showcases the supply and demand for properties needed regardless of Brexit. A user of the Reddit property forum agrees that the UK does indeed have a 'massive shortage of housing in the UK' where people would 'still need a roof over their heads'.

The media's perception on Brexit has caused so much hesitancy for landlords that it has resulted in those wanting to sell/pause on expanding their portfolio of properties. One&Only see this as a perfect opportunity to invest while others are still uncertain over the whole situation.

The possibilities are endless, as now is the time where you can get great investment properties for less. One&Only are confident that there would be a post Brexit bounce, where the uncertainty would end, with buyers returning and the properties you purchased would lift.
